These lesions originate in the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord, the meninges. In the majority of cases these tumours are benign, even though in some cases their location requires taking urgent therapeutic action.

Clinical signs

MeningiomaThe clinical signs will depend on the location of the lesion, but common to all of them are headaches, epileptic seizures or neurological indications such as difficulty in walking, speaking, visual disorders, etc.

Diagnostic tests

The clinical examination is of vital importance, magnetic resonance imaging with contrast is the diagnostic test of choice and enables planning a precise surgical procedure.

Treatment

Treatment will be primordially surgical. Other treatments such as radiosurgery or chemotherapy may be indicated in some patients with excessively high surgical risk or because of the histology of the tumour.
